We’re looking for a Lead Data Engineer (Snowflake Migration) with strong technical expertise and a passion for solving legacy challenges at scale. In this role, you will lead complex data warehouse and ETL migrations, work with cutting-edge technologies, and play a pivotal role in building reusable IP and frameworks that will shape the future of enterprise data engineering.
Key Responsibilities
🚀 Lead Data Platform Modernization
- Own and drive the migration of legacy data warehouses such as Teradata, Netezza, Oracle, or SQL Server to Snowflake.
- Re-engineer and modernize ETL pipelines built using Talend, Informatica, or other legacy tools.
- Rebuild pipelines using cloud-native tools and modern frameworks like DBT, Snowflake Tasks, Streams, and Snowpark.
🧱 Architect Scalable, Cloud-Native Solutions
- Design robust ELT pipelines that ensure high performance, scalability, and cost optimization on Snowflake.
- Integrate Snowflake with AWS, Azure, or GCP and leverage orchestration tools like Airflow, Cloud Functions, or native Snowflake schedulers.
- Apply best practices around data modeling, partitioning, materialized views, and incremental processing.
🔐 Enable Governance, Security & Automation
- Implement secure and compliant architectures with RBAC, masking policies, Unity Catalog, and SSO.
- Automate repeatable tasks including metadata extraction, code conversion, validation scripts, and migration workflows.
- Ensure data quality and parity between source and target systems using test automation frameworks.
🤝 Collaborate, Communicate & Mentor
- Work closely with client stakeholders, architects, and delivery teams to define migration strategies, timelines, and risk mitigation plans.
- Present solutions and roadmaps to both technical and business leaders.
- Contribute to COE knowledge assets, playbooks, and accelerators.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote adoption of best practices across projects.
Required Skills & Experience
- 6+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Data Warehousing.
- 3+ years of strong hands-on experience in Snowflake design and development.
- Proven expertise in migrating ETL pipelines from Talend and/or Informatica to cloud-native alternatives.
- Excellent command of SQL, data modeling, ELT design, and pipeline performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with tools such as DBT Cloud, Airflow, Snowflake Tasks, or equivalent orchestrators.
- Solid understanding of cloud data architecture, security frameworks, and data governance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Snowflake certifications: SnowPro Core and/or SnowPro Advanced Architect.
- Experience with custom migration tools, metadata-driven pipelines, or LLM-based code conversion.
- Familiarity with domain-specific architectures in Retail, Healthcare, or Manufacturing.
- Prior experience in a COE or modernization-focused consulting environment.
