Role Overview
Anblicks is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer with strong expertise in Java, SQL, and Snowflake, with hands-on experience developing applications using the Snowflake Native App Framework.
The role is ideal for a strong software engineer who can build production-grade, secure, scalable, and data-intensive applications that integrate closely with Snowflake. You will work with architects, data engineers, and cross-functional teams to translate technical requirements into robust software solutions.
The primary focus will be on Java-based application development, Snowflake Native Applications, SQL development, Snowpark, APIs, and cloud integrations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable and secure applications using Java, SQL, and Snowflake.
  • Design and develop applications using the Snowflake Native App Framework.
  • Build and maintain Native App components including application packages, manifests, setup scripts, application roles, permissions, versioning, and upgrades.
  • Develop backend services, APIs, integrations, and business logic primarily using Java.
  • Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, and other Snowflake database objects.
  • Optimize SQL queries, Snowflake workloads, and application components for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Integrate Java applications and backend services with Snowflake, external APIs, cloud services, and enterprise systems.
  • Leverage Snowpark and other Snowflake development capabilities to build data-intensive applications.
  • Develop or support user-facing applications using Streamlit in Snowflake, where required.
  • Implement secure application access using Snowflake RBAC, application roles, privileges, and data-sharing capabilities.
  • Support application packaging, automated testing, deployment, version management, upgrades, and release processes.
  • Collaborate with architects to translate solution designs and technical requirements into scalable and maintainable implementations.
  • Participate in technical design discussions and contribute recommendations around architecture, scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, SQL, integration, data, and performance issues.
  • Implement engineering best practices across code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, security, and documentation.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.
  • Stay current with emerging Snowflake capabilities, Native App features, Java technologies, and modern software engineering practices.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience delivering production-grade applications.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java and enterprise application development.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, application architecture, exception handling, concurrency, testing, and performance optimization.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, including complex queries, joins, stored procedures, functions, and query optimization.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake and its data platform capabilities.
  • Hands-on experience developing applications using the Snowflake Native App Framework.
  • Good understanding of Native App concepts including:

  • Experience integrating Java applications with Snowflake and data-driven backend systems.
  • Experience developing REST APIs, backend services, system integrations, or distributed applications.
  • Working proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, data processing, or application development.
  • Experience with Snowpark or other Snowflake programmatic development capabilities.
  • Experience with at least one major cloud platform — AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Strong understanding of secure software development, testing methodologies, Git, and CI/CD practices.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to independently own complex development tasks and collaborate effectively with architects and engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing data-intensive or high-volume Java applications.
  • Experience with JDBC, connection pooling, transaction management, and database integration patterns.
  • Hands-on experience building Streamlit applications in Snowflake, particularly within Snowflake Native Apps.
  • Experience with Snowpark Container Services.
  • Experience with Docker and containerized applications.
  • Experience distributing or deploying Snowflake Native Apps across multiple customer Snowflake accounts/environments.
  • Strong understanding of Snowflake security, RBAC, governance, data sharing, and secure data access patterns.
  • Experience integrating Snowflake applications with external APIs, SaaS platforms, and cloud services.
  • Experience implementing automated build, test, deployment, and release pipelines for Java and Snowflake applications.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
  • Experience in data platforms, analytics, SaaS, enterprise software, or cloud-native application development.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
