Role Overview

Anblicks is looking for a Senior Data Engineer – Snowflake Native Applications with strong expertise in Java/Python, SQL, Snowflake, and backend application development, along with hands-on experience building applications using the Snowflake Native App Framework.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who can design and develop secure, scalable, production-grade, data-intensive applications that run on and integrate closely with the Snowflake platform.
You will work closely with solution architects, data engineers, software engineers, and cross-functional teams to translate business and technical requirements into robust software solutions. The role will involve application development, Snowflake Native Apps, Snowpark, APIs, cloud integrations, security, performance optimization, and CI/CD.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable, secure, and production-grade software applications using Java/Python, SQL, and Snowflake.
  • Design and develop applications using the Snowflake Native App Framework.
  • Build and manage Native App components including application packages, manifests, setup scripts, application roles, privileges, versioning, upgrades, and release management.
  • Develop backend services, REST APIs, integrations, and application business logic using Java and/or Python.
  • Develop complex and optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, and other Snowflake objects.
  • Leverage Snowpark and Snowflake's programmatic development capabilities to build data-intensive applications and processing solutions.
  • Develop and integrate applications with Snowflake, external APIs, SaaS platforms, enterprise systems, and cloud services.
  • Build or support user-facing experiences using Streamlit in Snowflake, where required.
  • Implement secure access and data-sharing patterns using Snowflake RBAC, application roles, privileges, and secure data access mechanisms.
  • Optimize application and database workloads for performance, scalability, reliability, and Snowflake cost efficiency.
  • Design and implement automated unit testing, integration testing, CI/CD, deployment, versioning, and release processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across application code, SQL, Snowflake, integrations, data, and performance.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to translate solution designs into maintainable and scalable implementations.
  • Participate in technical design and code reviews, providing recommendations on architecture, security, scalability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Follow engineering best practices around coding standards, Git, CI/CD, testing, observability, security, and documentation.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices.
  • Stay current with Snowflake Native Apps, Snowpark, Snowflake platform capabilities, and modern software engineering technologies.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software/application development with experience delivering production-grade applications.
  • Strong hands-on experience in Java and/or Python backend development.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, application architecture, exception handling, concurrency, testing, and performance optimization.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, including complex queries, joins, subqueries, stored procedures, functions, views, and query optimization.
