Mid-Level Power BI Data Engineer (3–6 Years)
Title: Power BI Data Engineer - Azure Data Platform
Responsibilities
· Design, develop, and maintain Power BI datasets and semantic models
· Build optimized data models using star and snowflake schemas
· Develop DAX measures for business and operational reporting
· Design and manage Power BI reports and dashboards aligned to business requirements
· Implement and maintain data refresh strategies (scheduled, incremental refresh)
· Optimize dataset and report performance (query reduction, aggregations, model tuning)
· Integrate Power BI with Azure-based data platforms (ADLS, Databricks, Azure SQL, Synapse)
· Implement row-level security (RLS) and manage workspace access
· Partner with data engineers to ensure reliable and scalable data pipelines
· Support production issues related to datasets, refresh failures, and report performance
· Maintain documentation for data models, measures, and reporting standards
Required Skills
· Strong hands-on experience with Power BI (Desktop & Service)
· Proficiency in DAX and Power Query (M)
· Strong SQL skills for data extraction and validation
· Experience working with Azure data sources (Databricks, ADLS, Azure SQL, Synapse)
· Understanding of data modeling principles for analytics
· Experience implementing incremental refresh and RLS
· Familiarity with Power BI deployment pipelines and workspace management
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
· Experience with large-scale enterprise datasets
· Exposure to Databricks SQL Warehouses or Lakehouse architectures
· Experience supporting executive and operational reporting
· Understanding of data governance and semantic layer best practices
